HIDDEN RICHES IN SECRET PLACES

"I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by your name." Isaiah 45:2-4

One of the great blessings of being a child of God is to enter in to an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ as the Lord of our life. Until then, we only experience His presence and power from the perimeter of life rather than dwelling in the center where all the action is taking place.

When we surrender our will to the lordship of Christ, we will appropriate God's promises, and know from experiential faith the blessing of walking in companionship with Jesus Christ. We will see God doing things in and through our lives that can only be attributed to God. Such is the promise before us.

"I will go before you and will level the mountains." That does not mean that when we become Christians there will be no mountains for us to confront. It does mean, that whatever mountains of trial and adversity we encounter, God has promised to either give us the grace and strength to conquer them, or He will deliver us from the encounter by His mighty power (1 Corinthians 10:13). As a believer whose trust is solely in God, we can rest assured that every encounter we face has first gone through the providential care, concern, and compassion of God.

But there's more..."He will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places." You might say, "What are these?" They are the riches that are ours in Christ Jesus revealed only to those whose faith rests in Him, whose heart is open and responsive to His leading, and whose spirit is sensitive to that still small voice saying, "this is the way, walk in it."

When we encounter the difficulties and trials of life and dare to trust His faithful hand "in" them, He reveals to us the secret treasures found only in the "dark places" of life. In these times we experience the comfort of His presence, the strength of His power, and the grace of His compassion that enables us to be "more than conquerors through Him that loved us" (Romans 8:37). This is how we grow in grace, become mature in our faith, and learn to lean upon His sufficiency.

It is through these encounters we are made to "know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by your name." Wow! That's incredible, inconceivable...but that's God! There is nothing beyond the power of God, and we as His children can be the recipients of this infinite grace!

We respond to the Holy Spirit as He begins to mold our lives to the "image of His Son" (Romans 8:29). We begin to live in the center of God's will and purpose for our lives where He has freedom to lead us in the "paths of righteousness for His name's sake." Have you ever realized that "He summons us by our name?" What a blessed revelation!

Are you a candidate for all God wants you to be? Surrender to HIM all the cords that bind you and let the Lord be the authority of your life. You will never be the same when HE IS LORD OF ALL! Dare to believe and dare to trust Him without reservation.
