Why We Do the Things We Do...

President Doug Salser
and his wife Linda
Since Literature Ministries began in 1996 we have created tools to enable Christians to minister more effectively in areas that lack strategic evangelism or discipleship resources. We call this “kingdom strategy”—publishing what we believe uniquely benefits the kingdom of God in today’s world, not duplicating what is already being done.

That strategy encourages us to produce practical discipleship resources for men, teenagers, and families struggling with issues caused by pornography and a sex-saturated society. It’s the reason we publish handbooks for personal purity for men and for teenage boys.

And when we found a huge gap in evangelism materials that show Catholics how they can find salvation through faith in Christ alone, “kingdom strategy” pointed us to create quality tracts to begin to fill the void. LMI tracts for Catholics have since found readers in the US, Canada, Ireland, Uganda, South Sudan, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Central America, Cuba, Chile, and Australia.

We also maintain a vital web ministry in order to have all our publications online so they can be read any time, anywhere on earth, and ordered if desired. That includes several online-only translations that can be downloaded without charge to print on personal computer printers or in commercial print shops for distribution where needed internationally.

Within our website is another example of our "kingdom strategy"—the S.A.F.E. Site (www.litmin.org/safe.php). It’s an online resource that includes the text of our booklet, "Escape the Trap!" (www.escapethetrap.org), on sexual purity, plus an excellent Internet filter for personal and family safe surfing, an accountability program, and two unique LMI screen savers.

We also promote two devotionals that encourage discipleship and godly living. “Walking with God” is taken from the writings of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, and “Dare to Believe!” is written by retired businessman Ed Powell. We deliver these free devotionals by email to thousands of readers on six continents.

Finally, from our beginning in 1996 we have come alongside like-minded ministries to advise, write, edit, design, and print resources to expand their effectiveness. This consulting role has enabled us to leverage our capabilities and experience to strengthen the outreach of literature in the US and abroad. During the past few years the number of ministries served has grown significantly, improving the content and distribution of evangelistic materials.

All that to say that at Literature Ministries we’re intent on being strategic in multiplying what God has given us to reach 21st century readers!
