GOD'S ABUNDANT SUPPLY

"My God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19

How exceedingly blessed we are in every way! We live our lives surrounded with conveniences, personal comfort, and a quality of life the majority of the world has never experienced. Yet, we live as if we deserved these things, complacent in our gratitude, and go on our way indifferent to the needs and suffering of people all around us.

We take so much for granted...until it is taken away from us! The ability to SEE...the beauty of a sunrise or the glory of a sunset...the exquisite beauty of countless flowers...the delicate texture and pattern of a fern...the billowing white clouds ever changing in form and density...the crashing waves of the ocean or the continuous waterfall cascading hundreds of feet. God's creation is endless, and we have been blessed to see it all. The gift of sight!

Ivan was blind. He had a keen sense of humor, loved the Lord, and was a blessing to us all. One day I asked everyone in my Sunday school class to close their eyes. After a meaningful pause I said, "That is what Ivan sees...NOTHING BUT DARKNESS!" Have you ever thanked God for your sight? We take this for granted because we have always been able to see.

Have you ever thanked God that you are able to hear...to talk...to smell...to walk...to simply function normally and not be handicapped in some way? These are basic, yet profound blessings God has supplied us with. There are countless blessings that embrace our lives every day, yet, we fail to bend our hearts in praise and thanksgiving for these abundant things God has given to us.

Throughout God's Word we find again and again the admonition to "OBEY"...walk in the way of the Lord...seek His face...keep His commandments...that call us to "obedience." It is our responsibility to obey...the results are God's responsibility. When our lives respond in simple obedience, we see His gracious hand upon our life and daily blessings.

Paul said, "My God shall meet ALL YOUR NEEDS according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." Such a reality can be ours when we dare to TRUST and OBEY. God has an irrevocable covenant with every believer, which He will faithfully fulfill as we walk in child-like faith and simple obedience. Did you notice how God will meet all our needs? "According to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus!"

Read thoughtfully Isaiah 41:9-10. "I said, You are my servant; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." WOW! What an incredible promise by our Almighty God! God will manifest His presence for our loneliness...His comfort for our fear...His strength for our weakness...His resources for our need...His mighty power for our ineptness...His sufficiency for our every encounter! How infinite are the fathomless resources of His abundant supply! And they are all ours through Jesus Christ our Lord. Dare to Trust!

"How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you" (Psalm 31:19).
