I Know Whom I Have Believed

"For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." 2 Timothy 1:12

Where there is unerring wisdom to direct our way, almighty power to execute His plan and purpose, and a receptive and responsive spirit to follow His leading...no difficulty can exist which cannot be overruled by His power. This is the privilege and position every believer has in Christ. The question is, "Are we possessing our possessions?" Are we living in the "liberty wherewith Christ has made us free?" Liberty, freedom, power, confidence, hope, perseverance, and courage all come from our yielding to the sovereign lordship of Christ.

When we yield the right to control our life to His authority, He will direct our lives for our good and His glory. As Christians, we try to control what He owns. Paul says, "Ye are not your own, for ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." God does not want what we have or any attributes we may possess. He simply wants our will surrendered to His authority. What do we lose? Our life! What do we gain? HIS LIFE! What an exchange!

God often puts "occasions of grace" in our lives, by which He seeks to stretch our faith, to sink our commitment deeper into His faithfulness, to launch our lives to new heights of devotion, to enlarge the boundaries of our lives, and to increase our vision to horizons of glorious opportunities for His glory. Cannot He, who created all things by the word of His power, who spoke them into existence, who holds all things together by His might, accomplish for us whatever our needs may be? "Is His ear heavy that it cannot hear or His arm shortened that He cannot save?" We measure His wisdom by the finite mind of our own reason, forgetting that "His ways are in the great deep" and "past finding out." Oh, the joy of being in the process of being molded, resting in the hands of the Potter. He sits beside the potter's wheel as it spins to form your life into a vessel of honor.

Have you not known that God orders all things, both in heaven and in earth, after His will? Have you not heard that without Him, not so much as a sparrow falls to the earth? Are you not aware that every hair on our head is numbered? Have you not read that He has promised to supply all of your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus? How can we imagine that He is not attentive to everything that concerns those who are His Own?

Amidst all that concerns us, all that confronts us, all the fears and uncertainties that are before us, God says unto us, "Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness" (Isaiah 41:10). These are the glorious promises He has given unto all who will "DARE TO BELIEVE." Nothing is impossible with GOD! As His children, take your place at the Father's table on which are spread the "exceeding riches of His Grace." Not to partake of all God has provided for us is to live in a spiritual poverty of our own making.
