GOD'S MIGHTY POWER

"For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him." 2 Chronicles 16:9

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?" Now you might say, "Oh yes, I know that. When Christ ascended, He said He would send the Comforter, and He would abide with us forever" (John 14:16-17). But let me ask you. Have you ever stopped long enough to fathom the depth of this tremendous truth? Do you realize that GOD, in the person of the Holy Spirit, dwells within you?

All the resources of God are available to you. God has promised "to do exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or even think, through the power that works in you" (Ephesians 3:20). Most believers take this glorious truth rather passively, not living in the reality of God's mighty power that abides within us. The power of the Holy Spirit is for us TODAY...for our daily walk...to penetrate our life...that we may be "more than conquerors through him that loved us" (Romans 8:37).

Paul was well aware of this mighty power in the devastating circumstances he faced...not theoretically, but experientially. He writes..."But thanks be unto God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ, and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him" (2 Corinthians 2:14-15). He didn't learn of this "mighty power" when he studied Jewish law at the feet of Gamaliel...but in the stocks of a dark, dingy Roman prison. He learned of God's mighty power through abuse at the hands of cruel enemies...through beatings and many afflictions.

He recalled the words of David who wrote, "The angel of the Lord campeth round about them that fear him, and delivers them" (Psalm 34:7). And in Psalm 91:4..."He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings shall you trust: his truth shall be your shield and buckler." It was in God's mighty power, that Paul faced a rebellious defying world, and stood steadfast against all he encountered. You might say, "Well, that was true in Paul's day, but we're living in a different age and we face different circumstances than Paul." I've got news for you. We face the same God-defying rebellious unbelieving enemies of the cross...the same Satanic powers...and we need, as Paul, to put on the full armor of God, that we may withstand the attacks of the enemy. This we can do triumphantly, through God's mighty power.

GOD IS OUR HIDING PLACE..."For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion; in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me upon a rock" (Psalm 27:5).

GOD IS OUR STRENGTH..."But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31).

GOD IS OUR FORTRESS..."The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and he knows them that trust in Him" (Nahum 1:7).

GOD IS OUR ALMIGHTY GUARDIAN..."I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day" (2 Timothy 1:12).

God's irrevocable covenant to every believer is ours to claim and appropriate, that we may see His mighty power manifested in us!
